Trends to Make You a Back to School Hottie

  • Get a choppy hair cut with lots of texture—easy to style and you’ll stand out with style

  • Like long hair?  Make a trip to a salon and get a deep conditioning treatment with a layered trim to get rid of dry hair, pool damage, sun damage, and split ends.

  • Don’t have cash for a salon visit?  Visit your hair product aisle and get an intensive conditioner, like Pantene, Neutrogena or Aussie.

  • Help the clarity of your skin by making your own mix of honey and sugar to gently get rid of sun burn, pore clogging, and uneven coloring.  Moisturize and use SPF!

  • Add a pair of comfortable flat shoes in various colors to your purchases.  You’ll be able to look cute for a dance, fashionable for everyday school, and casual enough for a weekend at the movies.

  • Enjoy looking a little taller?  Think of buying boots for the fall and winter that you can wear with pants, jeans, and skirts.  You’ll be warmer!  You’ll also be able to pick from a wide range of heels.  Splurge on good leather but not suede (it damages in wet weather.)

  • Skirts are in!  Long or short, you’ll look flirty without being too dressed up if you pair up with some slim-fit t-shirts and crew necks with long sleeves.  The trick to looking good in a skirt is to let the fabrics hug your body up to, not including, your butt.  Flare!

  • Fall colors change every season, but Classic colors never go away.  Add some simple basics to your closet:  black, white, off white, brown, tan, red, navy blue, and deep green.  You’ll have more close to mix and match with your brighter colors!

  • If you’re going to whine to your parents about getting a phone, get a good one.  There’s no point in having a dinky cell phone these days.  You’ll feel left out from your friends who have more elaborate phones and you’ll end up costing your parents more money when you ask for a new one too soon.  Look for rebate and new contract promotions.

  • Use thick papered journals for notebooks.  They’re more durable.  Use typical notebooks with perforated ruled paper for loose leaf and classes that require a normal notebook.

  • Get a package of mechanical Number 2 pencils and you’ll be stocked up for the year!

  • Mess white out bottle = out!  Neat corrective tape = in!  Don’t waste time waiting for liquid to dry and messing up your pens.

  • Lunch time is no reason to forget about style!  If you need to bring a lunch box, it may be time to lose the plastic box.  Go online and search for antique lunch boxes made out of metals.  If you can’t afford a few extra dollars on a lunch box, don’t use paper bags unless you’re going to recycle!  Bring your lunch in a shopping bag from your favorite store or a gift bag.  If it gets ruined, recycle.

  • Smile.  The number one trend for a successful back-to-school hottie is a confident and sincere smile that makes friends and strangers feel welcome.
